Reginald Bosanquet, born August 9, 1932, joined ITN as a reporter from 1955 to 1967 including
Roving Report in 1957, Dateline London 1961 to 1962 and Dateline 1962 to 1967.
He joined ITN's newscasting team in December 1961 until 1962 and again from
1967 to November 1979, famous for fronting the flagship News at Ten. He was
Diplomatic Correspondent for 4 years and an original member of the News At
Ten team in 1967. He appeared on six Election Nights from 1959 to 1979. Died
on 27 May 1984 (he is buried at Putney Vale Cemetary, London).
Reginald's father (Bernard James Tindall Bosanquet: 1877-1936) was a cricketer
who played for Middlesex and England and has a claim to
fame as being the inventor of the "Googly" delivery
(also called a "bosie" in his honour).
Reginald suffered from epilepsy hence his frequent 'slurring' of his words which
often made him sound drunk while on air.
